A golf tournament was held at Knights Play Golf Course in Apex NC as a fundraiser to help us continue our mission in Mozambique, and at the same time enjoying a game of golf. God provided us with perfect weather for this event, and it certainly was as much fun as we were hoping for, and more. We had nine teams of golfers all smiling after finishing their 18th hole (or was it the cookies?).
Some of the funds raised will help start the work of adding a roof to the church in Vila Ulongue. This is a very active church that has caught the Wheresoever vision to expand the Kingdom in the Tete Province of Mozambique. They have only existed as a congregation a few years, but have already been able to help plant and oversee around 30 new churches. Since they are overflowing their current building, Wheresoever helped them by donating some land for a new large building and funded part of the foundation as a seed. They have faithfully completed the foundation, built up the walls and are ready for the roof. But at this time they cannot fund the roof, so we would love to help them with part of the funding so they can more effectively continue in their Great Commission call. You will hear more about this since they need a lot more help than the golf tournament is able to provide.
There were tournament trophies and a lot of prizes; for lowest score, 2nd lowest score, highest score, closest to pin on 2 holes, highest donations raised and 4 door prizes. All the prizes were donated, and we tip our hats to all the very generous people who gave - THANK YOU. The prizes given included 4 Callaway Big Bertha golf clubs, a 2-night stay at the beach with associated cooler, frisbees, etc., 4 free rounds of golf at Knights Play, 4 free rounds of put-put, leather golf club covers for everyone, many golf balls, a number of golf and Christian books and devotionals, a golf movie, golf shirts, towels, golf caps, cap pins, a golf bag organizer, African artwork, many discount vouchers to different stores, various other miscellaneous gifts, and my favorite, a large Scottish bearded golfer nutcracker.

And we are very grateful to the volunteers that planned and organized this event: Jerry Jones, Tina Fowler, Charles Balan, Jean Williams, Ellen Cureton, Virginia Hill, John Abernethy, Lindy and Danny Bravo. And of course we really appreciate Bluebell Photography (Ashlynn Jones) for capturing the flavor of the event in pictures. Remember that you can view and purchase the images online at Bluebell Photography. All the proceeds from sale of the images will be donated to Wheresoever. She was everywhere taking pictures, a couple of hers are on this page. A few more pictures at the bottom were just taken from our cellphones, sorry about the quality of some of those.
And we also thank Knights Play for the use of their facilities.
