Southern Africa

Southern Africa is managed by the Wheresoever African Core Team in Mozambique (see Who We Are).  This is where the greatest concentration of Wheresoever ministry effort resides.

MozambiqueConcentrated in the Tete Province of Mozambique there have been well over 100,000 decisions for Christ and good congregational growth in existing churches. Wheresoever has been the catalyst for starting more than 350 new churches across multiple denominations. God has honored us by allowing Wheresoever to witness first hand more

Malawi - Malawi is adjacent to the Mozambique Tete Province, where God originally sent us. Many of our team members have been missionaries from Malawi, including all the leadership.  It is helpful that the official language of Malawi is English, and the language spoken by far the most is Chichewa, which is the tribal language throughout most of the Tete Province.  Even though the ministry focus is Mozambiquem over the years there has been ministry overflow into Malawi, including this ministry being the catalyst for a number of churches started there. Now one of the African Team, Moses and his wife Eunice, have moved back to Malawi to begin a small new base in the capital city Lilongwe.

Swaziland - Overflow from the Mozambique ministry has also reached Swaziland, where there is now a Wheresoever Council. They are hungry for more of the Word.

Widow in need

Mozambique Disaster Relief Update, June 2019
Wheresoever has been blessed to be able to supply some relief in those areas where we have presence...   A drop in the ocean compared to the need, but a huge help to those few who are blessed by it. We have distributed two waves of relief, with a third coming very soon...
The Wheresoever strategy has been to identify those who have the most critical needs, and target them and those who can help them. Also helping pastors to get back to a situation where they can again spiritually feed their flock effectively. more

Cyclone Idai update

Mozambique Disaster Relief Update, Apr 2
Mozambique is still in major crisis and needs your prayer. Some of you have asked if Wheresoever is involved in the relief work. The answer is YES.  ...    Four families that attend our meetings lost their homes and are now living at a school. We had heard there were 100 families sheltering there, but Kenneth discovered there are 622 families at that school which only has a handful of classrooms. more

Cyclone DisasterMozambique Cyclone Disaster, March 2019
Critical situation in Mozambique. It started with floods after days of constant rain due to a low pressure system which moved out to sea, gained strength and came back as Cyclone Idai which is being referred to as the worst humanitarian disaster in Mozambique. Tens of thousands are now homeless. Many chrch buildings no longer exist. Food is a huge problem, both now and the effects of all the crops having been destroyed. Collapsed roof in hospitals. more

USA Team Mission Trip to Mozambique, Aug/Sep 2018
... they have taught 6 days of seminar in 3 locations, have taken part in 5 crusades, baptized around 70 people, preached or shared in 8 church or ministry services, and took part in 1 wedding, bought and distributed Bibles, went up mountains to pray, and more...
The Holy Spirit has been active in so many ways including healings and deliverances. Six people who were totally blind can now see, plus some more that claimed their sight had improved. Many other healings including a lady who had sores inside her mouth that disappeared, many with pain related healings. I enjoyed hearing that one chief asked for the witch doctors present at the seminar to come forward for prayer, and some did. Changed lives. more

New Mission Base in Tete City, Mar 2018
Exciting news. As of March 20 2018, Wheresoever takes possession of a newly rented house to be used as a new Wheresoever Mission Base in Tete City, across the  road from the mighty Zambeze River. It is a much more central location in the province, making it much easier to access each of the other districts. It also opens up the ministry to a large pool of people to whom we can impart one of Wheresoever’s core visions, to spread the excitement of the Gospel to villages where other ministries generally don’t choose to go.  ...Read More

Orphans and Prisoners - Christmas Visits, Dec 2017

Restoration of a struggling church in Chirodzi, Dec 2017
One of the churches that Wherersoever launched about three years ago was struggling. We understood that the pastor had felt overwhelmed and simply walked away.  So in December we sent Kenneth with a small team and a smaller budget to investigate and take whatever action was necessary.....The church has been resurrected.  Hallellujah!  Not many members yet, and it was a struggle, but resurrected just the same.  We have a God of restoration.  ...Read More

GraduatesTeaching College Graduation of Wheresoever Girls, Dec 2017
I am excited to tell you about the latest three Wheresoever girls who just graduated from the local teaching college and are now available to be appointed by the government to teach at schools across Mozambique (that’s how it works here). In the past, Whereresoever has helped students reach a level of education that they would not have been able to attain on their own. This has included education in the Mozambican equivalent of high school, university and teaching colleges. The help has consisted of providing employment, providing accomodation  and food at the mission base, mentoring, spiritual growth, and involvement in all evangelistic activities as well as preaching and teaching local congregations. They are totally immersed as part of the Wheresoever African Team. ...Read More

Beautiful Wedding in Vila Ulongue, Dec 2017
Azeti and Deolinda were married in a beautiful December wedding at the Foursquare Church in Vila Ulongue. Kenneth officiated the wedding and Christiano assisted. Praise God that the Gospel is changing this new generation. Before Wheresoever came to town, weddings were rare. Outside Christian circles, people consider themselves married when they live together. Now they declare their commitments before God and the community.  ...Read More

Acts 9:31African Team Update, Sep, Oct, Nov 2017
Here is an exciting update of what’s been happening in Mozambique in the three months after the two large outreaches in July and August. Five new churches; exciting reports of the fire of Jesus taking hold again; Wheresoever Councils actively evangelizing and planting churches on their own; a resurrected car and bus (at least for now), progress in church buildings; and sadly, reports of Kenneth’s and Enesia’s fathers both graduating to life in glory. more

Outreach to Chiuta and Chifunde Districts, Mozambique, Aug 2017
Another outreach by the African team to areas where Wheresoever has ministered in the past, but has not been able to return for some time.
There were interesting challenges throughout - government authorities not allowing the team to evangelize at first, one of the Wheresoever councils had dissolved due to the long time between visits, the car as usual giving the team trouble. But our God is almighty. He gave us the victory. Nearly 4,000 decisions for Christ in total, a new Wheresoever Council formed, three locations now exitedly following Jesus seeing fires re-lit. Thank you Lord. more

Outreach to Mutarara District, July 2017
The Wheresoever African Team completed a major outreach to the Mutarara District of the Tete Province of Mozambique... We celebrate that the trip was very successful. Altogether, roughly 6,600 persons accepted the freedom and light of Jesus Christ into their lives, two new churches were planted, and a new Wheresoever Council was formed... The team visited 7 locations within the district, holding leader seminars, crusades, showing the Jesus Film and other outreaches. more

Church roof in Tete near completion, June 2017
The roof of thiis Hope of Glory church in Tete (the capital city of the Tete Province of Mozambique) is nearing completion. The building up of the walls and roof have been in progress for some time...  This church is important because it is in an influential city, and by far most of the churches we work with are in villages or small towns...   Danny Simoes pastors church. He's part of the Wheresoever African Team, usually referred to as Tall Danny. more

Hospital relief in Mozambique, May 2017
Received this report from Kenneth in Mozambique: Patients at the hospital praised God for the love they encountered when the Wheresoever Ministries team went to share the Word of God, pray for sick and give  gifts for  the needy. more

Wheresoever African Team activities, April 2017

The Wheresoever African team is still busy spreading the Word throughout the land and strengthening the existing Christians.  Outreaches, prayer and raising spiritual maturity with focus on Jesus Christ are some of the activities of the African Team during April.  They're also busy planning and arranging some major evangelistic plans that will be taking place in July and August. more

Relief for Floods in Lilongwe, Malawi,  March 2017
The rainy season in Malawi takes place roughly from November through February.  This year it hit especially hard in different areas of Malawi, including the capital city, Lilongwe.  Some lives were lost.  A number of families, including some of the Wheresoever Team volunteers, lost their homes as they were damaged or swept away by the rain.  Livestock and crops were lost.  The needs are great since this is the time period they call "hunger time", since the harvest has not yet arrived and prices spike as they compete for the scarce food. more

Orphans and Prisoners, New Year's Ministry, Jan 2017
Brief report received from Kenneth:  On New Year's Day, the Wheresoever African Team rounded up many of the local orphans and gave a few simple gifts to them. It was wonderful, we managed to share with children from  three villages...  The following day, the team went to preach and cherish the prisoners  in Vila Ulongue in Mozambique. There were 109 men , 5 women and 2 infants making a total of 116 . more

Outreaches in Nansato and Matewere, Nov 2016
The Wheresoever African team held outreaches in the Mozambique villages of Nansato and Matewere, reaching out to the unreached with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The next generation is getting training - as you can see in the picture, Ethel is preaching at the Nansato outreach. And Christiano is praying for the sick accoring to Mark 16:17 "...they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." As a result, 195 souls came to Jesus in Nansato.

In Matewere, the power of prayer was on display for all to see. The sound equipment had problems for four hours before everything worked. The team prayed and they were able to get some response from the equipment but it didn’t reach very far. But technical difficulties cannot stop the will of God - even as they struggled with the equipment, 217 lives came to Jesus. The team was told that witch doctors had been spreading their charms around before their arrival - they will not succeed. A woman was also healed of asthma. more

Women's Conference, Oct 2016
A women's conference was held at the Wheresoever mission base in Vila Ulongue on October 28-30, 2016:  The theme was “Women, RUN with the Gospel Of Jesus Christ”...  Many church branches were represented, many of which planted through Wheresoever. Roughly 600 persons attended...  One of the preachers was a 10-year-old girl named Ferre, teaching roughly 600 women on Luke 7:11-16, about Jesus raising a widow's son. She spoke confidently and without fear. This is important because in Africa it is not common to see children trained in the gospel. Many of them are guided away, trained in witchcraft or caught in prostitution. more

Nthiti Village Outreach, June 2016
This outreach took place in Nthiti village where 340 lives got saved in the name of Jesus, including 2 village headmen. The Holy Spirit was present and touched many lives as you can see in the pictures. Jesus is coming soon, many places like this need to be reached with the gospel. People are very hungry for the gospel of Jesus Christ. SHALOM. more

West Magoe, Mozambique with US Team, Aug 2016
Tina joined Danny, Lindy and the African Team in Mozambique in order to go to West Magoe, one of the two areas in the Tete Province that Wheresoever had not yet covered to some extent. The Holy Spirit led us every step of the way. We even ended up crossing the mighty Zambezi River by boat and almost by accident were able to cover the last geograpic area of the province that we felt God had asked us to cover. This is important because now the focus can shift to infilling - helping the existing Wheresoever Councils and local pastors to spread the Gospel in areas closer to their homes. more

Danny, Lindy & African Team in Mozambique, July-Aug 2016
Danny, Lindy and the African Team were together in Mozambique for most of July and August. There were crusades, baptisms, radio presentations, leader seminars, discussions with pastors, and many other activities. more

Malawi Outreaches & Graduation with US Team, June-Aug 2016
Wheresoever is expanding in Malawi. We have two Wheresoever Councils there. One covers Central Malawi and is based in Lilongwe headed by Moses, The second one covers Southern Malawi and is based in Blantyre, the second largest city in Malawi, headed by Lloyd Banda together with Enesia Chitheka Luwis, Kenneth's wife. Danny, Lindy and the African Teams were active with both councils during parts of June through August trip to minister in Malawi and Mozambique. more

Nkhanga Outreach, May 2016
The Wheresoever African Team reached out to a Mozambican village that has a reputation for being completely lost in tribal religions, ancestor worship and has great respect for "traditional dancers" which are not at all what their cute name implies.  People greatly fear each other and depend on witchcraft and beer.  Few children go to school.  Our team performed a drama showing that "with God, ALL things are possible".  Crusades were held over two days during which 1,352 persons accepted Jesus into their lives and two new church branches were launched. more

African Team Outreaches, April 2016
The Wheresoever African Team had a busy time reaching souls in Mozambique during April and part of May 2016.  They ran a number of outreaches and crusades across the Tsangano and Angonia districts of the Tete Province of Mozambique, including the villages of Khathiti and Mgwadara.  Mgwadara is one of the villages which had never been reached with the gospel, even though some of the villagers had been exposed to the Gospel in other villages.  More than 1,800 persons turned to Jesus during these outreaches. more
